“We shall not cease from exploration

and the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know that place for the first time”

T.S.Eliot (from the Four Quartets/ Little Gidding

Helen’s love of sculpting began in childhood; the first material was fresh Colorado snow, and the first attempt was to recreate the beautiful statue of Our Lady that lived at Grandmother’s church. It failed to be beautiful and then melted; but the desire to fashion figures (later with clay) continued to be a pursuit throughout her education. Primarily self taught in sculpting; Helen was exceedingly blessed to study with Master Sculptor, Bruno Lucchesi for two summers in Loveland, Colorado later in life. Many decades have passed since these inflection points and another career gratefully experienced. With time growing short and her eye on eternity, Helen has returned to that early desire; to build images that reflect, however imperfectly, the glory of our Creator.

The following pages illustrate some of that work.
